Services provided

Dr. Parks provides comprehensive psychological evaluations assessing for a variety of developmental and learning problems such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders, dyslexia, Neurocognitive Disorders in adults (e.g., Dementia), and other emotional, behavioral, and personality disorders.
All too often, costly, time-intensive, and unfocused evaluations are the standard default for diagnoses. More concise evaluations that are targeted at specific diagnostic questions are often more appropriate. These evaluations are less taxing on patients, contain costs for families, and can help patients access the services they need (educational accommodations, ABA therapy, psychiatric treatment, etc.) as effectively as the more comprehensive evaluation.
The goal of each evaluation is to find real solutions to overcome the problems that are increasing suffering and hindering potential. Dr. Parks aims to help each patient and family develop a plan of care with specific and real-world solutions. This often involves referrals to and consultation with schools, medical providers, and professionals from a variety of other disciplines.
Phone consultation
Each patient has a unique set of needs. As such, it is always best to start with a brief complimentary phone consultation so that I can begin to understand your situation and how I may be able to help. During this consultation, we can discuss the scope and depth of the evaluation needed, as well as the amount of time we need to schedule.

Psychological testing
The evaluation will typically be conducted in one session of 2-3 hours, but may need to be spread out further depending on the scope of the evaluation and the age of the patient. The initial evaluation will include a clinical interview with patients and parents, individually administered psychological testing, self-report and parent report rating scales, and computerized test administration.

Report preparation and feedback
Dr. Parks will compile and interpret assessment findings from all sources of data and develop a clinical formulation and recommendations for treatment and other needed services. A feedback session with parents and/or patient is used to relay the test findings and discuss the recommendations.

Implementation
Once the evaluation has been finalized, the goal is to ensure that the initial aim of the process is achieved. This may involve consulting with other professionals and beginning an ongoing dialogue with patients and parents about the barriers to our success. The goal is to maintain an open space that makes patients free to call for support and ask for guidance and directions as much as possible.
